Check Out These Ways To Stay Busy This Summer

Summer is a great time. During this season, people often feel encouraged to get outside, but sometimes the indoors are calling you as well. Whether it is a particularly rainy afternoon or the temperatures have become unbearable, all you want to do is stay inside. Being inside, however, does not mean that you have to merely binge watch your favorite shows on Hulu. There are plenty of indoor activities to try. Check out these ways that Apartment Therapy suggests to stay busy this summer indoors.
Grow an Indoor Herb Garden
If you do not have a yard, then you may have felt held back from growing any plants. Gardening, however, does not have to be done solely outside. Exercise your green thumb by growing an indoor herb garden. All you need is a window sill that lets in the sunshine. Plant your favorite herbs that you like to cook with in cute little pots that you place on the window sill. Then you will have fresh herbs to season your food.
Get Cooking
Speaking of cooking, preparing dishes can be a fun and interesting indoor hobby. You can make it really engaging by having a cooking competition between you and your partner to see who can make the better dish. Or you can surprise your spouse or date with dinner using a recipe that is special to you that you have spent time refining. You can even find a cookbook with recipes that you would like to try and spend time making recipes from the book until you have attempted to make every recipe.
Stay Active
If you are feeling a little stir crazy but the weather is making you stay inside, then there are plenty of ways to still stay active. You may can find some light yoga moves or bachata lessons on YouTube that you can try. The possibilities to stay active indoors are truly endless.
Learn a Foreign Language
While it is important to stay active physically, it is equally important to stay active mentally. A great way to sharpen your cognitive skills is to learn a new language. Are you planning a trip overseas any time soon? Consider learning the language from the country before you head over for a visit. Maybe you took Spanish or French lessons in high school but have gotten a little rusty. These days, there are many ways to learn a language from actual classes and flash cards to books and apps, you can quickly learn a foreign language.

Host a Game Night
While many of these activities can be done alone, there are some activities that are best done with friends. Playing card games or board games is a great example of this. Sometime this summer, take the time to host a game night. When you invite your friends over, you can ask them to bring their favorite board game or teach everyone their favorite card game. You can spend hours playing and laughing with your friends.
