What To Pack In Your Carry-On?
If you are taking to the skies this summer as you travel across the country or to visit another country, there are travel essentials you must bring in your carry-on bag. While you may have a checked bag, it is important to have a well-packed carry-on. Not sure what you need to bring on your carry-on? U.S. News Travel and The Points Guy offer insightful input to assist you with your carry-on packing list.
The Essentials
Unfortunately, checked bags get lost all the time, so you need to make certain that your carry-on has all of your important items. First and foremost, pack all your identification credentials, such as your passport and driver’s license. You will also want to have other travel documents like your boarding pass on hand. It is a good idea to have your passport and boarding pass in a pocket that is easy for you to reach as you may need to pull them out several times as you go through customs. Other essentials to have in your carry-on should include a travel wallet with cards and cash as well as a toiletry bag. Along with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, your toiletry bag needs to have other vital items like your prescriptions and any other items you may need such as eyeglasses, contacts, inhalers, or EpiPens.
Items for the Journey
We all enjoy our creature comforts, but a plane ride is not always comfortable. Fortunately, you can improve your journey if you bring onboard the right in-flight necessities. You will want items to keep you entertained, so bring a book or electronic devices. Do not forget to bring your earbuds or headphones for the trip. You may also want to pack a sleep mask or small travel pillow to make your ride more comfortable.
While the planes do provide drinks, a couple of snacks, and a meal or two, these items are served based on the airplane’s schedule and not yours. You may find yourself getting hungry before they serve dinner, so bring a few snacks as well as plenty of water to stay hydrated. You will need to purchase these items in the terminal, so remember to leave space in your carry-on for them.
Feel Free to Freshen Up
The journey can be tiring and you may not feel your best when you wake up on the plane. Feel free to pack on-board essentials that help you freshen up. Items to consider, include a comb, mouth spray, under-eye gel pads, face wipes, and some moisturizer. If it was a very long plane ride, you probably dressed for comfort. The outfit you wore on the plane may not be the outfit you want to have as you travel around the city on your first day. Make sure to bring a change of clothing that you can put on at the airport after you get off the plane. It is a good idea to maybe have two outfits in a packing cube in your carry-on just in case you do lose your luggage.

Miscellaneous Items
As you are finishing packing your carry-on, there are a few other items you may want to have in your bag. For overseas journeys, you will want your travel adapter. Depending on where you are traveling, you may want to check the weather to see if you need any outerwear like a rain jacket, coat, or light sweater. Other important items to remember for your carry-on include sanitary items. Germs are everywhere, and you may find that a restroom has run out of soap, so try to pack essentials like travel soap, hand sanitizer, and even some travel Kleenex.
