The 2023 RX offers the latest Lexus interior design, with plush materials and a fresh design. It seats five adults in supreme comfort and comes with 29.6 cubic feet of luggage space. Crucially, it offers more head, leg, and knee room than the 2023 XC60, which also comes with less luggage space at just 22.4 cubic feet. Granted, the XC60 does have that cool Swedish “living room on wheels” style to its cabin, but it dates back to 2017 and is starting to show its age.
As you’d expect, the 2023 RX and 2023 XC60 offer a comprehensive array of luxury features, including dual-zone climate control with air purification, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, and Wi-Fi hotspot.
The 2023 RX also adds a panoramic sunroof, HD radio, multicolor ambient lighting, and a heads-up display as standard features. Furthermore, it comes with a large 14-inch touch screen for its infotainment system. The XC60’s touch screen is much smaller at 9 inches.
The 2023 RX is offered with three powertrain options. The first is the RX 350, which offers a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that puts out 275 horsepower to the front wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. An all-wheel-drive system is an option. Step up to the RX 350h, which adds a hybrid powertrain and offers 245 horsepower, plus an electric all-wheel-drive system. The range-topper is the RX 500h, which is still a hybrid but ups total system power to 367 horsepower.
The 2023 XC60 also comes with three powertrain options, both with all-wheel drive as standard. The first is the B5 trim, which delivers 247 horsepower from a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The T6 trim uses the same engine, with an added supercharger, and delivers 295 horsepower. Both options use an 8-speed automatic transmission. The range-topper is the hybrid T8 eAWD variant, which provides a system total of 455 horsepower.
The 2023 RX and 2023 XC60 can both tow up to 3,500 pounds.
The 2023 RX and 2023 XC60 come with very high safety specifications. The RX comes with Lexus Safety System 3.0, which includes lane departure alert with steering assist, pre-collision system with pedestrian and bike detection, dynamic radar cruise control with curve management, oncoming vehicle detection, and road sign assist, all as standard. It also has ten airbags. The 2023 XC60 skips out on some of these features as standard, but they can be optioned. The 2023 XC60 only has eight airbags.
